Brazing - ロウ付け

We braze on steel frames (for small parts), not only welding. It is silver brazing. Silver brazing doesn't damage steel frames because of the low heat.  It is a good way for putting small parts on steel frames.
Welding and brazing, they are totally different ways, but I like both.

スティールフレームを扱う時ウェルディングだけでなく、ロウ付けもする。銀ロウ付けである。銀ロウ付けは低温で部材どうしを接合できるためチューブにダメージを与えなくてすむ。スティールフレームの小物付けには特にもってこいの溶接方法である。　Tig 溶接とロウ付け、全く異なる方法であるが両方とも個人的には好きである。

HAYNES - ヘインズ（チタンチューブメーカー）

HAYNES is one of the finest titanium tube manufacturers in the US. They supply many kinds of high grade, high quality 3Al-2.5V seamless tubing to us. The most important factor to keep frame quality is the tubing.

HAYNES （へインズ）はアメリカで最良のチタンチューブメーカーの一つである。たくさんの種類のエアロスペース、ハイグレード、ハイクオリティー 3AL-2.5V シームレスチュービングを私達に供給してくれる。フレームクオリティーを保つための最も重要な要因となるのがこのチュービングである。

Susi's frame - スージーさんのフレーム

This is our production manager's wife, Susi's frame. I know her well. Especially I like her smile. When I see her smile, I can always feel better. So I welded this frame, giving a love in it for her, anyway.

これはプロダクションマネジャーの奥さんである、スージーさんのフレームである。彼女のことは良く知っている。特に彼女の笑顔は大好きである。彼女の笑顔を見るといつも癒される気がするくらいである。このフレームにも愛情をこめて溶接した。

Mr.O's frame - O さんのフレーム

This frame was ordered by Mr.O (Japanese) who is living around Boston area. I am always happy to see orders by Japanese because I think many Japanese tend to like large manufacturers' bikes in US or Italy (Their bikes are also good, though.).
But I am glad when I see some Japanese ordered our frames. I always give a love in their frames when I weld them.

これはボストンエリアにお住まいのO さん（日本の方）からのオーダーフレームである。 日本の方からのオーダーを見るといつも何故かうれしくなる。日本の多くの人は大手ブランド（アメリカ、イタリアなどの）のバイクを好む傾向があるように思うからである。（大手ブランドのバイクも良いのだが。）
しかし日本の方がわざわざオーダーしてくれたのを見るとやはりうれしくなる。そんな彼らのフレームを自分が溶接する時はいつも愛情をこめて精一杯期待にこたえるようにしている。

Hanako 2 - ハナコ ２

Hanako (my dog) has a big black dot on her back. It looks like a heart mark. How many times have I watched it? It's so cute. When I call her, she always comes to me and sometimes sits against me (Like the picture above, but I don't know why.). She is a funny dog.

ハナコの背中には一つの大きな黒いドットがある。それはハートのマークのように見える。今までに何回ハナコの背中を見てきただろうか。実に可愛らしい。。。　ハナコを呼ぶと必ず自分のもとに来る、そしてたまに背中を向けてお座りをする（上の写真のように。しかし何故だか理由は分からない。）。おもしろい犬である。

Weld bead in paint – ペイントの中の溶接ビード

Sometimes you can see weld bead well even the details after painting. It depends on the color. Some colors cover the weld bead, but some colors would rather show everything of the weld bead more than a non painted frame. If it is a good welded frame, it’s good after painting, too. But if it’s not, it’s so bad (Especially if it is mine.) Anyway I want to avoid it.

ペイントされたフレームの中には、溶接ビードがはっきりと浮かび上がっているものがたまにある。細かい部分までくっきりと見える。それは色にもよるのだが、ほとんど隠してしまう時もあれば、むしろペイントされないフレームよりも何もかも全てが露になる時もある。綺麗に溶接がされていれば良いが、そうでないと最悪である（自分が溶接したものだと特に）。それだけは避けたいものである。

58 frames per person in a year - 一年間に一人あたり58本のフレーム

I tried to calculate that how many frames are made per person in a year in Seven. That is 58 frames per person per year (It's only about frames.). This number means one frame per person per week. In addition, if I say... If you had your workshop, you would make one frame (from design to finishing) and some office work per week.
What do you think about this number? It depends on your thought. It depends on your production system. It depends on your order system. It depends on how you work... And I also tried to imagine that if I tried everything by myself,,, How many frame can I make or should I make?

一年間で一人あたり（社員）何本のフレームをこの会社で生産しているのか計算してみた。58本であった。つまり一週間に1本フレームを作っていることになる。さらに言うなら、もしあなたが自分のショップを持っているとすると、1本のフレームをデザインから仕上げまで行い、他にいくらかのオフィスワークもこなすということである。
あなたはこの数をどう考えるだろうか？それはあなたの考え次第である。あなたが持つ生産システムしだいである。あなた独自のオーダーシステム次第である。あなたがどのように働くか次第である。。。またこんなことも考えてみた。もし自分が自分の方法で自分一人でやったと仮定すると、、、何台作れるだろうか、あるいは作るべきだろうか？
