Handlebar? -

This is a handlebar which is ordered from a customer. I don't know how to use it. Is it steady after it is assembled on a bike? I don't know about it, either. I can imagine, though...

Brazing couplings -

Brazing (silver) couplings is more comfortable and easier than welding couplings. I like it.

Next-generation builders in Japan -

Today's welding
Big size, 61cm(c-c)!!

There are many frame builders in Japan. Most of them are 50's, 60's, or 70's? They have contributed a lot for Japanese bike industry. We should respect them. However, they will have to have next generation builders soon.
In Japan, most frame builders have worked for keilin racers. But in these days, I hear keilin is being cut down... In the Us, there is no organizations like keilin. So there are many builders with many kinds of styles, some are great, some are...
So I think, next generation builders should seek something new different than keilin. In Japan, there is quite few cool bike brands which are like IF, Firefly in US. Maybe, only "Cherubim" has tried to make cool bikes and has challenged. I hope they have more cool bike builders and brands in the future in Japan and they show their cool bikes to the world.

Cross bike project 3 (Dimension) -

Demension is almost done. I am still thinking about the paint plan, but I will start machining next week.

Visitor -

I had two visitors from Japan. They both are designer and craftsman. I showed them around our shop and I let them try to weld with some scraps of tubes. They seemed they liked it. They are going back to Japan this late afternoon. I hope this visit was good for them.

Cutting method for steel tube -

Steel tubing for high-end bikes is usually double butted tubing. That is to make the tube lighter and have a strength and stiffness on both sides. When I design a steel frame, I rather pay attention the thicker parts (not thinner part) on both sides of the tube (main tubes). I never cut off only one side of the tube, but cut both sides to keep double butt. It makes a well-balanced frame. Unless it is kept, the tube doesn't show the maximize ability.
This is an significant matter in steel frame design process.
