Miller (welding machine) - 溶接機 Miller

We use our welding machine "Miller". Our machine is a foot pedal style. It is an old style now. Actually, in Japan, we cannot see this style in any Japanese welding machine manufacturers. But I like this foot pedal style because I can have very sensitive welding, and very adjustable. The junctions to weld in a frame are complicated. I want to keep using this foot pedal style as my welding machine.

ウェルディングマシーンはアメリカのメーカー”Miller" 社のものを使用している。いろいろなタイプのマシーンがあるのだが、フットペダル式（足でアクセルを踏むようにそのふみ加減で調節する）を使っている。このスタイルのものは今となっては古いかもしれない。事実、日本では、このスタイルのものは見ることすら出来ない。しかし、シルキーでかつ繊細で、クリアーで美しい溶接ビードをつくるには、はっきり言ってこのタイプのマシーン以外は個人的に考えられない。溶接中の微妙なアジャストが可能である。バイクフレームは溶接箇所が複雑である。日本のP社の溶接ビードが無骨なのはこのウェルディングマシーンの影響も要因の一つだろうと思う。

We use a CNC machine for BB threading. This machine is very helpful for our production. Both threading and face cutting are done at the same time and very quick. It is hard for small builders' shops to have this machine because it's too expensive. But by having this machine, our production time is saved a lot and we do not have to buy threaded BBs. So we can save the cost, too. It's a great machine.

BB のねじ切りにCNC マシーンを使用する。この機械はプロダクションサイドにおいては非常にヘルプフルである。ねじ切りとフェイスカットを同時に行う。しかも速い。小さなビルダーズショップにとってこの機械を持つことはちょっと厳しい。なぜなら非常に高価であるからである。しかしこれがあることで、製作時間をかなりセイブできるし、はじめからねじを切ったBBを購入する必要がないため、コストもセイブできる。素晴らしいマシーンである。（ちなみにSeven のこのマシーンは日本製である。これまた、すばらしー。）
